We’ll be sending our first invites in Summer 2021.
At Sora, we’ve built a library of high-quality learning experiences for our own curriculum. But, now we’re opening up this library for you to use with your high school students–or advanced middle schoolers!
You can use it as a lab to spice up a textbook chapter, or as a full-fledged PBL curriculum for use at home.
With over 200 activities, we’ll have something to interest any learner.
Search by subject, hobby, time estimate, and more!
Every activity in the Sora Activities Library comes with an overview of the project, skills and subjects covered, tools and materials needed, and instructions.
The overview is our way of contextualizing the information. We believe students learn best when they see how the content is connected to the real world. Otherwise, students won’t feel the curiosity that’s required for authentic learning.
Skills are Sora’s replacement of academic standards, or the individual topics that normally students learn in traditional subject-based classes. For example, a project in the Activities Library could involve students learning “Newton’s Second Law”. You can filter through these Skills to find activities that fit perfectly into your lesson plans or existing curriculum!
Tools and materials will help you identify the resources your student needs to complete the activity; we’ll also let you exclude any activities that require money.
Lastly, instructions will give you and your student a game plan for completing the activity. However, in some cases, we want the student to figure it out, so we won’t provide exact, step-by-step instructions!
When you sign up, you’ll have access to hundreds of activities spanning dozens of subjects!
Sora is a live, virtual, accredited high school designed to accelerate students towards their wildest dreams. At Sora, students work with our teachers to design and create hands-on projects based on what they’re interested in learning–anything from computer science to 18th century Victorian fashion. Teachers help students scope their projects and incorporate academic standards from Math, Science, English, History, and more.
Our experts and counselors work with our students to create a personalized curriculum aligned with their interests and learning preferences.
These days, millions of families are homeschooling in the US and around the world. We know that finding high-quality curricula can be difficult, especially for older students—and particularly for those who think outside the box. Too many families feel forced into using boring textbooks simply because they can’t find other academically rigorous options. We want to show you there’s another option. Although these activities are just a small part of what makes our school special, we hope they’re helpful for you and your student on their learning journey.
