Sora Curriculum

Young people are unique. School should be, too.

At Sora, students choose their classes to pursue their interests. While they learn the same content you might find in other schools, it’s packaged into interesting classes that make them much more engaging and meaningful.

Students move at their own pace and can always try again. Instead of cramming for tests, they demonstrate their knowledge through projects. Upon graduation, they receive a college-ready diploma and transcript with a GPA.

Explore the curriculum

Sora provides students with real choices and autonomy, creating the motivation they need to grow and achieve their academic potential.

Move at your own pace

Students at Sora progress towards graduation by mastering standards called units and abilities. These cover academic content and life skills, such as collaboration and research.

At the end of a class or project, Sora students are awarded scores based on their demonstrated mastery of the material for each unit and ability.

Scores are not final until graduation, so students are always free to try again and resubmit any work. Their GPA is in their control.

Aaron is learning how to think, not what to think. It’s been amazing to see his problem-solving skills grow, rather than simply memorizing things for tests.

Math at Sora

Math is an important tool for life and making sense of the world. At Sora, students strengthen their math muscles with practice and problems like they would anywhere else, except with the goal of creating a fantastic project, not taking a high-stakes test.

A head start with college

Sora graduates are well-prepared for college, with over 95% going on to join one of their top choices, including Ivy League universities.

While at Sora, senior students can take college classes through Arizona State University and the Acadeum course-sharing network. These are great opportunities for students wanting to pursue their interests at a college level while getting a head start on earning credits.

Additionally, Sora is proud to be an official partner of The Knowledge Society, the world’s top teen accelerator program.
