Introduction

Explore the transformative power of food on human health, delving into how our bodies convert nutrients into energy and the impact of various nutrients on physical health.

Students will explore metabolism and learn how cells use food for energy. They'll examine dietary guidelines to understand balanced nutrition and its long-term effects on wellness. Practical applications include creating healthy recipes and cooking blogs to share their insights. Participants will also prepare meals for feedback, refining their culinary skills based on real-world experiences.

 

By the end of this expedition, students will appreciate the crucial role of food in maintaining health and fitness, equipped with the knowledge to make informed dietary choices.

  • Identify the main chemical and biological components of food and analyze their relationship with health

  • Explain how nutrients are processed cellularly to produce energy, maintain the cells, and make an organism grow

  • Create a communication piece (a blog for example) to describe one or more recipes, their nutritional properties, health benefits, and the science behind it.
