Success after Sora

Thursday, April 21st at 7:30 - 8:30PM ET

This 1-hour engaging virtual event introduces you to Sora’s very first graduates. Come hear their compelling stories, ask questions, and learn how their experience at Sora Schools set them up for success in college.

Our 2021 Grads:

Cymri Eleazer, Jacksonville University

Hannah Higgins, Mercer University

Alexa Martinez, Coastal Carolina University

Graduate Testimonial:

“What I found when I joined Sora was an environment where I could search for my passion. While I was searching for my passion and what I wanted to pursue in life, I also found new friends, supportive teachers, and kind advisors. Sora has allowed me to settle into the person that I want to be. I don’t know what I would have done had I not discovered Sora.” –  Alexa Martinez, ’21”

Our Program

Sora Schools is the project-based, virtual middle and high school that helps students soar. Our innovative curriculum takes online school from sitting-behind-your-desk school and turns it into an engaging experience for each student’s unique needs.

Sora’s full-time, accredited program is comprised of creative learning expeditions (like “The Science of Marvel,” “Engineering Rollercoasters,” and “Philosophy, Logic, and the Art of Argumentation”), and self-directed independent study that lead students to tackle questions from “What if Monet was a contemporary artist working with digital tools?” to “What are the economics behind building a tiny house community?” and beyond.

Introducing Sora's "Portrait of a Graduate"

First and foremost, we seek students with a contagious passion for their specific areas of interest and active desire to create fun, engaging, and practical projects that fit with our curriculum. Familiarity with mastery- or competency-based learning is ideal, as is previous experience in independent schools or other nontraditional education settings.

Post-Sora, our goal is for students to have superior communication and time management skills, which will be showcased in interactions with their peers.

Our grads should approach the world being a divergent thinker, embracing technology as a tool for learning, and honoring the big ideas they explored as high school students.

For attendees not yet part of the Sora community who think the current education system is not designed to meet students where they are and accelerate them to where their dreams take them, join us!

Some Key Traits of a Graduate include:

Ability to work towards structured learning goals

Excel in specific areas relating to STEM or humanities

Experience with building intrinsic motivation

Passionate about being amongst the next generation of thinkers, dreamers, and doers

Bonus Points for prospective students interested in Sora:

Experience with virtual learning

Familiarity with a variety of tech tools and platforms

Experience with nontraditional, project-based education
