Scenes from the Sora Class of 2024 Graduation

On Saturday, June 15, Sora's largest graduating class to date celebrated the conclusion of their high school journey.

From the time these students were freshmen, Sora has grown over 10 times in enrollment. The Class of 2024 is filled with trailblazers, innovators, and strategic problem solvers. We can't wait to see all they accomplish!

"We know that our world is full of challenges. And what I hope for you is that your time at Sora will equip you to be on the forefront of solving those challenges, to be on the forefront of being a person who makes the world a better place,” said Christopher Wilson, Head of Schools, during the opening of the ceremony. 

Faculty Speaker

Julia Deckrow, STEM Expert, was selected by the graduates to be the faculty speaker. 

“Those first few months [at Sora] were nothing short of amazing. You all impressed me right off the bat with how creative you were, the effort that you put into everything, your technology skills, and your positive attitudes. It was a whole new world for me.” Julia shared some fond memories from the Class of 2024’s early high school years. 

“As I look at you today, I see not just graduates, but truly remarkable problem solvers, ready to take on the world,” said Julia. “You all started out as quiet freshmen navigating the complexities of joining a virtual high school to confident graduating seniors brimming with cross-curricular knowledge and unlimited potential. Your growth has been nothing short of inspiring.” 

Class Speaker

Hailey M. was selected as the Senior Class Speaker on behalf of the class. Hailey shared: 

“Today marks a milestone, a moment for us to pause and reflect on our individual journeys at Sora and our broader experience as students. We all remember our timid, uncertain selves as freshmen. But look how far we’ve come. These past few years have been a period of profound self-discovery, new experiences, and forging lasting connections. 

As seniors transitioning into adulthood, we are integral parts of the wider world. The choices we make, and the paths we lead will shape the future for generations to come. Let us embrace lives filled with purpose, engaging in advocacy, community service, and contributing to the advancements of tomorrow. I am so immensely proud to stand among such capable peers today. I have no doubt that each and every one of us will accomplish great things, both big and small, leaving an indelible mark on our communities.”

Celebrating

At the conclusion of the ceremony, each graduate’s name was called and they had a moment to celebrate on camera. Following the reading of names, the graduates moved their tassels from the right to the left side to signal the completion of their high school journey. All attendees were invited to unmute themselves and cheer on the Class of 2024.

Sora students receive a college-ready diploma and transcript with a GPA upon graduation. They are prepared for the future with unique skills, an impressive portfolio of work, and top scores on standardized tests like the SAT. 95% of Sora students are accepted to one of their top 3 choice colleges.
