Scholastic Silver Key Art Award

By Ava B.

The work that I received the Scholastic Silver Key Award for is called “Chromesthesia.” This is a condition where hearing a sound results in people seeing colors or shapes. I love reading about the brain and the interesting things that happen within it. I was reading about synesthesia and I decided to try and represent it in art. It took 2 to 3 months of creating different artwork and working with my art teacher before I felt I had something worth submitting.

I honestly did not expect to win anything, so this was a huge surprise. I was hoping for an honorable mention and even that was a daydream for me.

One of the many things I love about Sora is that I can include my interests and passions in my school work. For each expedition so far, I have been able to produce artwork. Art is definitely one of my big passions.
