Sora breaks the mold of traditional education. Students meet in live, synchronous class sessions where they dive into real-world topics that interest them. These classes blend disciplines and focus on hands-on, project-based learning instead of tests. Our approach develops curious, independent thinkers who are prepared for college, careers, and beyond.

Independent Studies or ISEs are a unique Sora offering, giving students the opportunity to explore topics of interest with the guidance and support of our teachers.
In the 11th-grade year, students participate in the Mentorship Program. In this program, they are supported in selecting a potential career field of interest, identifying a mentor in the chosen field from their local community, and planning a Capstone Project that they will expand on in 12th grade.
In the 12th-grade year at Sora Schools, students engage in a Capstone Project, allowing them to further explore an issue or topic within their field of interest. Students must also contribute to their local community.
Students have access to a wide range of world language options through external partners, allowing them to earn high school-level credit.
At Sora, we believe promoting a healthy lifestyle and holistic well-being is as important as academic success. As part of our curriculum, students are required to complete 1 credit in Physical Education (PE). Given Sora's online format, this credit is completed at home, allowing students to engage in physical activities that best fit their interests and routines.
Students can earn college credits while working towards their high school requirements through Sora’s dual enrollment program. We’ve partnered with institutions and local community colleges, so you can explore a variety of courses related to your interests and goals.
Dual enrollment is included in your Sora tuition, meaning you can earn an associate’s degree with no additional costs!
We want to make sure Sora students continue thriving after Sora. Our Career and College Counseling program helps students discover the best graduation path for them.
Sora has 3 hours and 20 minutes of live classes and office hours on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Your family can choose from three flexible time blocks to fit your schedule (or mix and match for even more flexibility).
Wednesdays are our community-building day. Instead of classes, it is filled with club meetups, all-school meetings, and other fun activities. It’s also a great time to catch up on projects or connect with your teachers 1:1.
Similar to a home room, students at Sora get grouped into Houses that meet throughout the school year. These houses meet daily with their faculty advisor to check in on academic progress and build valuable friendships.
“Sora has created an environment that balances challenge and support, and the sense of community is stronger than any school we’ve been a part of.”
